OUR STORY
Kovas's Legacy LLC is named in honor of my first seizure alert service dog Tsar Kovas. It was not until Kovas began attempting to revive me following a seizure state that I began to understand the many life-saving tasks service dogs can be trained to perform to help their owner/handlers safely and independently navigate their daily lives. My training and community experiences first with Tsar Kovas and later with his successor Prince Amarok showed me how much the public truly does not understand when it comes to the variety of disabilities service dogs can be task-trained to assist. Though not exclusively focused on the training of service dogs, it is my passion to provide individuals with well-trained service partners and increase public awareness of service dog etiquette. Part of the mission of Kovas's Legacy LLC is to educate the public in how to be respectful of the working dog/handler partnership and not try to draw attention to these teams.
While the formal training business is new in 2023, I have worked with a variety of breeds and training circumstances, from Chihuahuas with a history of biting to Brittany Spaniels at the beginning of their pack hunting careers. I have 24 years of Arctic breed experience training Siberian Huskies, Siberian Husky/Alaskan Malamute crosses, and Wolf Hybrids, as well as over a decade of experience training and working with service dogs. I look forward to partnering with you and your dog to help you both reach your maximum potential.
Be well,

THE TRAINING CREW
Eager to help you and your four-legged friend
Hello
My name is Alyssa Schwartz
I am the owner and trainer at Kovas's Legacy LLC. I hold a BA in Psychology from Roger Williams University and an MA in Psychology from Saybrook University. I am an American Kennel Club Approved Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and a Certified Service Dog Trainer through Animal Behavior College. Believing that continuing education is important to best serve clients and their dogs, I have completed the Advanced Canine Behavior course through the American College of Canine Studies and the Dog Trainer Foundations course through the Karen Pryor Academy. I am also Pet First Aid and CPR certified. I am not only a service dog trainer: I am a service dog handler of a phenomenal seizure alert service dog so I understand first-hand the important roles service dogs provide for their handlers.
