THE SPIRIT'S PASSION MEMORIAL
SERVICE DOG PROGRAM
A Partnership Between Kovas's Legacy LLC and BurnsBerg Kennels
Through our partnership with BurnsBerg Kennels in East Tawas, Michigan, we are very excited to announce The Spirit's Passion Memorial Service Dog Program. Originally called The Huskies for Heroes Program, this collaboration has been renamed to honor the life and legacy of Burnsberg's Spirit's Passion, who earned her silver harness when she crossed the Rainbow Bridge February 2024 following complications from canine respiratory virus. Passion was the mother to Kovas's Legacy's own Prince Amarok, who has been serving as a service dog since January 2020. She was also great-grandmother to Burnsberg's Fenrisulfr of Asgard, who works as a training canine in Kovas's Legacy's behavioral modification program.
The sacrifices of our nation's servicemembers is something important to both Burnsberg Kennels and Kovas's Legacy. Michael from Burnsberg Kennels served in the Marine Corps and Alyssa from Kovas's Legacy has been an Army spouse since 2003. To support our veterans who struggle with combat-related PTSD, BurnsBerg Kennels will donate puppies or young adult dogs to Kovas's Legacy to be trained as PTSD Service Dogs. Kovas's Legacy will reduce training costs for The Spirit's Passion Memorial Service Dog Program clients by offering 50% off the published training fees. The service prospects will be assessed as possessing the traits likely to succeed in the training process. Puppies and dogs selected for this program will be listed on our Facebook and Instagram pages @KovasLegacy as they become available for pairing with a veteran. Veterans wishing to apply for a service dog prospect through The Spirit's Passion Memorial Service Dog Program should send an email to kovaslegacy@gmail.com.
